The chemical composition of diatomite is mainly SiO2 with the general formula SiO2.nH2O. In addition, the diatomite also contains a small amount of agglomerate Fe, Ca, Mg, K, Na … The pure diatomite is usually white in color. In nature, often contains impurities, so they are gray, light yellow, gray to black, the darker the amount of impurities. Diatomite has white streak, light, many holes, fragile into soil, however the hardness can reach 4.5 ÷ 5. Melting temperature is 1,400 ÷ 1,650oC. Only soluble in HF acids and alkalis. The porosity of diatomite is large, can absorb 1.5 ÷ 4.0 times the amount of water compared to its own weight. Diatomite’s typical pore texture is manifested by the pore density and diameter parameters..

Because of its long cylindrical, elongated, very porous crystal structure with good adsorption capacity, it is used in industries: industrial wastewater treatment, aquaculture, as filter aid. in alcohol, cooking oil, animal feed, fertilizers and soil amendments.

Diatomite mine is located in Hoa Loc area, An Xuan ward, Tuy An district, Phu Yen province, 12km far from National Highway 1A and 40km north of Tuy Hoa city. Traffic in the operation area and the factory is provincial road 650, so it is easy to transport goods by rail at Chi Thanh station 12 km away from the exploitation area and by sea at Quy Nhon port 85 km.
Diatomite mine is divided into two zones with a total area of more than 200 hectares, of which the mining area has a total area of more than 100 hectares.
